Prince William has secretly volunteered for a mental crisis hotline

“I’ll share a little secret with you, I’m on the platform voluntarily,” Prince William told members of Shout’s team during a video call last month.

Princess Kate has volunteered to help with “check in and chat” calls for those who are self-isolated or vulnerable, Kensington Palace said.

The calls are part of the Royal Voluntary Service’s National Volunteer Service program, which was created to support the National Health Service and those vulnerable to Covid-19, according to the statement.

Prince William has been very vocal in the past about mental health. In January, he left a one-minute video that encourages millions of football fans to think about their mental health. Last year, he spoke openly about the loss of his mother, Princess Diana, to a BBC documentary on mental health and how men should feel comfortable discussing the issue.
In 2018, Duke launched the site Mental health at work, which provides resources and tools to improve mental health in the workplace.
