“The more I moved my legs … the more he started wrapping around me. His head just started hitting the chair (of the driver) between my legs,” Jimmy told the press release.
He then used a seat belt and a nearby knife to fight it – as he tried to stop the car.
Jimmy thought he was bitten later, and he was afraid for his life. The bites of the eastern brown snake are fast-acting and deadly, and the poison can cause paralysis and bleeding in the brain.
So Jimmy killed the snake, hit the accelerator and headed to the nearest hospital. A police officer then located his car, driving at 123 kilometers per hour (about 76 miles per hour) and pulled him over.
“A brown snake or a tiger snake is in the back of the ute (truck), I think it has bitten me, it was in the car with me,” Jimmy heard as the police officer got up, in a video released by police on Tuesday. . “You can feel my heart, my friend.”
The officer saw the dead snake in the back of the truck and asked for help. When the paramedics arrived, they decided that Jimmy had not been bitten but was in shock.
“It was pretty scary, I’ve never been so happy to see red and blue lights,” Jimmy said in the video.
