Kelly Loeffler tests positive for Covid but undergoes further testing

Loeffler tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday, but a subsequent test returned as unclear on Saturday afternoon, according to campaign spokesman Stephen Lawson.

Loeffler was unmasked with Vice President Mike Pence and Senator David Perdue during campaigns most of the time on Friday. The trio drove a bus from the airport to two campaign events for Elections for the seat of the Senate of Georgia in January.

“Senator Loeffler took two COVID tests Friday morning. Her rapid test results were negative and she agreed to attend Friday’s events. She was informed later in the afternoon after public events on Friday that her PCR test returned positive but was retest “Saturday morning after a meeting with medical staff and these results returned uncertain on Saturday afternoon,” Lawson said.

“He has no symptoms and will continue to follow the CDC quarantine instructions until the test is final and will be informed at that time,” Lawson said.

The campaign official added that Loeffler was alerting those she had direct contact with while awaiting further testing.

“Senator Loeffler is on my mind. I pray that her test results return negative and that she will soon return to the campaign trail. Blessings,” said Elder Raphael Warnock, her Democratic opponent in the upcoming final.
