We now have the first trailer for, an epic and star new edition of the classic science fiction series. Dune Trailer: The story of Denis Villeneuve sci-fi seems beyond the epic
The person in charge is Dennis Villeneuve, An Oscar-winning French-Canadian director who has already demonstrated his ability for thoughtful and impressive science fiction with Arrival and Blade Runner 2049. The Dune trailer makes it clear that it takes things to a great extent in terms of scale, as this new adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune books seems to be an epic epic. Seriously, take this thing:
Timothy Halamet plays Paul Atreides, the prestige of a dynasty of powerful space nobles up to their necks in space legends and space politics. Oscar Isaac is his space dad, betting on the future of his race on a deserted planet, where space witches, space villains and absolutely huge space worms collide among the glittering sand. Also, roaming the dunes is an Emmy nominee Zentaya, the deceptive figure from the space dreams of our young hero.
Playing with the rapid alleys of the epic melodic Eclipse, originally by Pink Floyd, the trailer also gives some insights into the impressive stellar cast. Charlotte Rampling, Dave Batista, Jason Mamoa, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson and Stellan Skarsgård appear adorned with rich costumes amid huge scenes and luxurious images, in a film that will clearly give Blade Runner 2049 a run for its money in terms of signature style.
And this is just the beginning: A sequel is already planned to complete the story, as well as a TV series, Dune: The Sisterhood with Villeneuve.
Dune is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18. Fingers crossed that it is as legendary as the trailer promises.
