Apple is closing some of the stores it reopened due to rising corona cases

The company will close 11 stores across Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Arizona this weekend, it said on Friday.

“Due to the current COVID-19 conditions in some of the communities we serve, we are temporarily closing stores in these areas,” apple (AAPL) he said in a statement. “We are taking this step with great care as we closely monitor the situation and look forward to returning our teams and customers as soon as possible.”
All four states have seen large increases in cases in recent days, with experts saying Florida in particular could emerge as a new focus.
In the past, Apple has put several restrictions and requirements on stores that reopened, with some offering only background pickups and others requiring entry of face covers and temperature controls.

“These are not hasty decisions – and opening a store in any way does not mean that we will not take the precautionary step to close it again if local conditions require it,” said Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s vice president of retail. and individuals, he said in a statement last month.

The company has 510 stores worldwide, 271 of which are located in the US.
